iGaming Ontario license – Ontario is the only province in Canada that has decided to open its market to foreign companies and allow operators to provide their services in the country. Instead of the classic licensing process, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario (AGCO) spent two years developing a special system that allows it to control and support the industry, while making it liberal and competitive.
iGaming Ontario is a gambling market operating under the AGCO, which registers companies and allows them to provide gaming services to Ontario residents. In this case, iGaming Ontario signs an agreement with each interested operator and exercises control over its activities, thus monitoring changes in the gambling industry and managing the gambling sector in the province.
Both B2C and B2B companies can register with AGCO to obtain iGaming Ontario license. To do this, they must receive certification for their products and devices from an independent laboratory and provide a list of required documents, such as an application and information about the company and persons associated with it, pay a fee and sign an agreement with iGaming Ontario.
Gaming regulation in Canada.
Canada is a federation consisting of 10 provinces and three territories. At the federal level, the industry is regulated by the Criminal Code of Canada, which states that gambling is illegal unless local authorities decide otherwise, and they must manage their own markets. The Gaming Commission of Canada is responsible for overseeing the industry and communicating with the government, the public and the media, but does not interfere in local politics: both land-based and online gambling and betting are controlled at the provincial level.
